Spring officially arrives here in France on the 20th March, not a moment too soon!

After several weeks of sub-zero temperatures, between –10 and –20, depending on day or nighttime, we seem to have entered a period of exceptional warmth.

Over the past couple of years I’ve found myself regularly tuning into a piece of music which seems to empathise with the whole ecological, permaculture way of things.

I suppose each person will have a different perception, however for me it will always be Nightwish with Tarja Turunen, singing Wishmaster, live on stage from their End of an Era concert.

I’ll post the Youtube link below, it may even work!

Anyone else got a 5 minute permaculture musical inspiration they can share?

    Hi Purecajn

    Interesting choice. 8)

I suppose I see Wishmaster as basically contemporary pagan – but then again I’ve spent the last 10 years wondering up and down the French Alpes with a herd of goats!

“One & One” seems to be contemporary romantic – reflective of permaculture in Louisiana? ……. similarly with the Sunshine Coast and a “Little Corner of the Earth that smiles at me” - what say you eco? ;)

I wonder if any more brave souls will offer further insights.

    Saltwater by Julian Lennon.

Says it all for me. Especially when he says, "What will I think of me the day that I die".

Hi eco, not too tragic I hope? =(

Hey permasculptor, that song is also epic through a pair of reasonable earphones. Definitely one to add to my playlist, thanks. :y:

Come on annette, you’re supposed to add a link to your favourite version so we can share your permaculture musical experience :hi:

    Hi Peter

I tried to upload it! I am technically challenged. Below is the best I can do. But you can't just click on it. You have to type it in or cut and paste.

    Hi Annette

Nothing quite equals the feeling of exhilaration when it all comes together and works!!

Saltwater by Julian Lennon certainly emphasises all the problems of the world and the inherent tragedy. =-

It surprised me to hear so many reflective and passive pieces of music, perhaps all the reactionaries are out digging swales.

It’s a pleasure to listen to a little bit of the heart of permaculture reflected in the music of its adherents. ;)

Many thanks to all who took the time to post.

    Hi again Permasculptor.

I can see why the Permie song, however a bit too Sunday-School for my tastes.

However, I find myself listening increasingly to Rakim.:)

Yes I thought the permie song deserved a place in the list but sunday school describes it well.
I should have issued a warning with Rakim It is addictive .I have not had Toward the within out of my cd stacker for over a year.I am very fond of their version of stretched on your grave Too.

    Hi Permasculptor

Yes, Rakim definitely needs an addiction warning.

It seems to be based around some kind of Mantra/Incantation?

I don’t know if I dare listen to anymore. :(

    Hi youngwarrior

Many thanks for the two pieces.

    Very smooth 8)

Looking back on my original suggestion of Wishmaster, I can see how far removed I am from most of the other postings.

Perhaps it’s just as well that permaculture has such a broad base! :)

AN ENVIRONMENTALIST has brought to life the sounds of a famous wood by laying the them down on a CD.

Music man Lee Gregory, 40, has spent over 100 hours recording and composing the 42-minute symphony using the sounds of nature.

Lee, who sells music memorabilia online, has been an acoustic musician for a couple of years making and recording music using natural sounds.

He single-handedly ran the project on behalf of Offshoots Permaculture Project, where he has volunteered since 2005.
