Cement, Lime Putty or Cob mortars can be used depending upon the builders preferences and finances. I did a course in Feb 2010 and loved the concept.
If the house caught fire, you'd end up with a very interesting shed. A shed suitable for the tropics rather than a house suitable for a cold climate. ;-)
