Shorten is keeping clean and in the back ground
This is unwinnable so he just waits
    Abbott wins
Public Servants are sacked government spending is curtailed ...recession
Introduces tax cuts for the rich, belt tightening for the poor
Cost of living keeps going up as supply and demand, the free market, global warming, exponential growth and finite resources all keep playing out
The rest of the world continues in turmoil and refugees keep looking for safe havens,so the boat phone doesnt stop ringing
    Work choices V2.0 is introduced.
People get a little upset and give Shorten their vote.
    Rinse and repeat.

    I wanna become a KIWI

I've often thought I might like to live in New Zealand - there are a lot of good things going for it. And then today when I heard this I almost booked my flight...

I don't stand to benefit directly from this new law, but the fact that they did something just because it's the right thing to do and then to sing together to celebrate gave me goose bumps...

Can you imagine Tony and Julia banging out a tune like this!!!???

I'm pretty sure Julia and Tony don't know the words to any indigenous Australian tunes. It is spine tinglingly good isn't it!

Its quite an asset to have a political system that doesn't rely on appealing to the lowest common denominator to get those vital few percent of votes that make the difference.
    Our system is massively broken.

The death of the Democrats was a massive blow to our democratic system, it gave "rational" conservatives a get out clause.
They stole votes from the coalition and the conservative labour fringe and generally delivered a good outcome in the senate usually moderately left.
The rise of the Greens has been great, but it has allowed Labor to move to the right to chase votes knowing they will still get Green support on most issues.
This has killed the heart of Labour.
The Pauline Hansons and Bob Katters type parties have allowed the LNP to move further to the right too knowing these parties sweep up disenfranchised votes from the uneducated left and right and deliver them the votes they need if necessary in parliament.
The only long term solution is the continuing growth and influence of the Greens and hopefully there ability to maintain the balance of power and influence all decision making.
Its a tough call as Australia will lurch massively to the right at the next election.

Wont happen as long as there's stuff to dig and big global influence runs the show.
More likely scenario is the splitting of the Green vote in an orchestrated DLPesque manoeuvre if it got to powerful.

What policies attract you to the coalition ?
$75,000 to rich woman who have babies ?
No mining tax so foreign owned companies can export more profit ?
No carbon tax so polluting is cheaper ?
Sending back the boats and Tony Abbott having a boat phone ?
Slower internet based on the old technology of copper ?
The coalition policy to only fund road projects and not rail?
Turning the north of Australia into a tax haven for rich friends to relocate their businesses there to avoid tax?
    Increased spending on defence?

really can't figure why anyone would vote for any current parties, party politics is about as corrupt as one can get, none will keep their promises except the one that says they deserve a pay rise, i too was staunch labor voter unti that garbage with "life wasn't meant to be greasey" and whitlam, that was the end for me, the independants are just as bad looking to line their pockets red.

but most of us just get to suffer for others allegiances to parties for feel good reasons.

    take care

Unless you live on Sydney's north shore, along with a lot of other blue bloods in the safe Federal seat of Warringah, that will be impossible.

For a (reasonably unbiased) analysis on Warringah, indeed all of Australia's Federal seats, checkout the Tally Room.
