I have a normal suburban house block and garden. I usually have more success in winter than summer as it is just so hot. I had 4 incredibly happy artichokes almost a metre high, near a couple of paw paw trees. All of a sudden they have just basically shrunk/disappeared. The bottom leaves have gone black and the pawpaw leaves nearby are starting to go yellow. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's going on?

    Where abouts are you gardening?

I've got a couple of artichokes in this season in Brisbane, but I'm not expecting them to survive too well as they're not usually recommended up here.

How old are the artichokes? What kind of soil do you have? How do you look after them?
