Not sure I want too many king browns in my compost and I would like to know that more than twenty five percent of them are slug eaters. I hear that garter snakes are harmless and I could live with that but we don't see any harmless snakes here in the Hunter Valley just browns and blacks.

Answering 12 Assumptions of the Food Inquisition
By RF on Jan 04, 2011 in Video
Here in 3 parts is the full video of the Evening with Joel Salatin on 3 December 2010 where he suggested that, just as there was the Religious Inquisition 500 years ago, we’re now experiencing a Food Inquisition. The ABC were there filming the talk for their Big Ideas program and you can watch it there, or below. These are in low resolution so they’ll play smoothly on your slowband. There are full HD versions available if you’d like a DVD. You’re welcome to link to these from YouTube and share it around.

Just found a little jewel online, but don't know the legality of it. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Torrent Files and I'm not endorsing nor encouraging the downloading of info, but at https://thepiratebay.org/search/geoff lawton/0/99/0 you'll find a few videos by Geoff Lawton including the new "Soils" video. the last video set being to slow to down due too seeders, but if you go too https://thepiratebay.org/search/bill mollison/0/99/0 you will find the set included with the big "Video Permaculture Design Course with Bill Mollison and Geoff La" which is a huge 59 gig of permie video along with videos by Bill Mollison. to top it off both of Bills Books are here on PDF. I wouldn't try downing the 59gig torrent unless you have good down speeds. (at 5mgs it lists at 12 days) Most of the ones listed by "Anonymous" are DVD quality

I love this video "From the Mara Soil" by Global Resource Alliance in Tanzania.

Another thread in this forum mentioned DDT being reintroduced in Africa to combat malaria. This clip includes an interesting section about malaria that covers neem and MMS, which I believe was an Aussie creation but may be controversial (the powers-that-be are ensuring their site avoids making claims about any medical impact):

I don't know what a rip swale is, but I can imagine it involves some type of plowing? The soil is about two feet from grade of tight brown topsoil clay, about six inches of gravel, which is a water seep, then very dense white/blue clay with blue boulders, some the size as a large suit case.

It has been a rainy year, quite the reverse of last year's drought. In normal years surface water in the swamp dries up mid-June, not this year though...

Here is a table that describes weather averages by the day, just have to plug in the date at the top.

My property is less than a mile from Green Bay, a segment of Lake Michigan - west from M-35 - so it has a small degree of moderation (from such a large body of water).

So here is another video I posted last night of a swale/hugelbed that was made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTGP8qCWCPk

Rick, with respect, do not ever give out your real address with your name connected on the internet unless it is in a https: format; i.e. http secured protocols for buying & selling goods.

A less scrupulous person has enough info right here to steal your identity.

Why don't one of you moderators strike out my address please?

    g'day rick,

a swale can be built using many methods, lay plant rubble in rows across the contours, bales of hay, or pile row of raked slashed grass, the copy book exacting trench swale is not the only way, all other ways do not need to be exact, yes the rip simply is a ripper tine behind a tractor (ours was 40hp), ours went to about 20"s, low impact by sight on the landscape, last as long as you want, good for planting rows of trees in as ripping opens up compacted soil and lets oxygen in, they don't hold water like a dam, what happens when the copy book device is cut into clay.

when we ripped last time we had local farmer types commenting and saying it was a good idea they did say they were going to do same, don't reckon they would be as interested in taking time out to build other.

by the looks of your site rips would go very well, if you plant trees along then row mulch as well. our rainfall was around 700-800mm, did wonders for getting moisture into the soil.

    keep chatting
