I have an idea of what I want to do but I'd be interested in hearing your experiences and techniques you used on the foundation, plaster and roof or protective cap.

    Thanks,

Ok, how about a rammed earth tire or earthbag fence; anyone built one of those?

    Thanks.

    Hi Rusty,
I helped with a strawbale fence in New Mexico several years ago. This one was straight with a concrete and boulder foundation and 3 feet of rebar sticking up. The bales were dropped over the rebar and subsequent layers pinned together with bamboo. Basic chicken wire and stucco finish with an old pipe laid lenghtwise on the top bales with tar paper over that to form a rounded top under the stucco to help shed water. I think that a straight wall takes a lot more footing to support it than a curved one would, plus a curved wall might be a lot more visually appealing. cheers

If you go strawbale keep it well off the ground and put a hat on top.
You could use earthbag for the first couple of layers.
The more curves the better as the world has too many straight lines already

    Thanks, you two!

What ever material I end up using (it's between earthbag and strawbales at the moment), the wall will most definitely have curves to it.
