We are winning against the spammers (But how many of you bought Gucci shoes? ) Please let moderators know of these evil beings and retribution will be swift and merciless! :axe:
Re: Spammers on the run i'm always open to adding more subforums, but only if they'll be used eh. give me your ideas.
Re: Spammers on the run every time i see them I write to the company they are selling stuff for adidas were very surprised and promised to try and stop the spammers, haven't heard from nike... I know they aren't involved, but the spammers sell their products and maybe if they can find the spammers they can stop supplying them or prosecute for using their trade name
Re: Spammers on the run Its been my experience that spammers tend to dry up for a couple of weeks around christmas. But then come back with a vengence around new year.
Re: Spammers on the run I'd like to mention a suggestion that Helgecko made a couple of weeks ago to aggregate the variety of valuable resources (books, websites, organizations, people) that are currently well hidden in the hundreds of existing threads here. I've thought a lot about how to do this, including "sticky" threads in each forum. Problem is that there are just too many sub-subjects ... the stickies would overflow the forums! But you folks have offered a possible solution: perhaps a dedicated "Resources" forum. We could post resources within subject matter threads. I will offer to help keep things organized within the forum and to begin the process of hunting out the existing references within the greater Permaculture bulletin board. What do you think?
Re: Spammers on the run I think that would be an assolutely fab idea.Perhaps moderated posting's into the resources forum? Hope some one be able to post the photos that were there in the old format forum-as in pictures speak louder-etc. please ? It would be a really great resource-Please,Mr. Murray
Re: Spammers on the run Some great ideas here. Let's not let them die. Some aspects of the site design also need updating. There is nothing stopping anyone starting a new thread on any topic I am just the mug that copped the job of getting rid of spammers which to my dismay is almost a full time job. What does banning someone by IP mean? Because I've just tried that as a new strategy. Does that mean I've banned half of China? Most of the spamming is coming from Chinese manufacturers I wonder if this list is on a Chinese "good to spam" list.
Re: Spammers on the run Banning IP's used to be a good method, but i'm told theres a work around for that too. The worst spammers would definetely be .cn and .ru domain extensions.
Re: Spammers on the run For all the fans of Fallout: Unwashed Villagers are fighting a spammer - :axe: :violent1: :violent3: :cussing:
