    G'day,

I have just been informed that P.A. Yeomans now historic property has been sold by its long-term owner for a mega sum (which I know but will not reveal as I was told in confidence) to a developer.

My question is to anybody willing is to have them jump the fence and run around the place and document it in video and in photos so that we have a good record of it before it is "brick and tile for miles" (apologies to Midnight Oil...

I would do this myself but will be overseas till March 2008 and APC9 in Sydney.

It is important that someone makes this effort - it would be a terrible shame to have the images of this important property lost forever potentially when we have had advanced warning.

    Thanks,

    Daz

    G'day,

I have a few people contact regarding this and I am trying to organise more legitimate access - so please be patient as this may take some time to manifest - especially as we are about to head across to California from here in central Wisconsin on a rather convoluted route and my contacts are not exactly what one would term as active emailers....

    Thanks,

    Darren

    G'day,

Sorry for the delay in replying - we have just driven across America on Route 40 (runs next to the old Route 66) and not been that available. Yes this is the property - I am still waiting for further information...

    Hooroo,

    G'day,

Good on you Fern - was anyone home?

It is now unlikely that I will be able to organise a visit through Yeomans. We have had a breakdown in our relationship that will not have me involved with them anymore. I will be making a statement about this matter in due course.

    Thanks,

    Darren Doherty

No one there, as far as I could see, except cattle, and neighbouring kids who ran and hid when we came by (they thought they were going to get into trouble for playing on the land). Lots of "No trespassing" signs on every gate, so just stood on the fence posts to take photos, didn't go into the property, didn't have time to anyway, as was just passing through.

    cheers
    Fern

Surely the works there should be heritage listed?

Yes , the word on the street is $40,000,000 that is 40 million dollars.
A very very sad result for North Richmond , Kurmond,Kurrajong and Bowen Mountain.
There is NO infrastructure - NO adequate Roads - NO Trains - NO motorways- and
No adequate water supply.....for thousands of dwellings.
You should all get your hands on a copy of "Water for Every Farm " -" Using the Keyline Plan"
    By P A Yeomans
and "The City Forest" - " The Keyline Plan for the Human Environment Revolution" by P A Yeomans
    1971.

Do you know the name of the development company?
    Names of any directors?
It may be cut up into "hobby Farms"?
Theoretically though the NSW Government can allow town-houses to be built on any land. They tried to do that with my property. Pity now I didn't take the money and run.

Some info and a couple of pics. of the farm. Though there is very little on the web.

Funny he was ahead of his time in treating Psychiatric Illness too.
I worked at NRPC and Frazer House in the late sixties. The hospital was leading the country in psychiatric care.

New satellite technology now enables us to map the bottom of the sea with great precision.(to 1cm)
it would be great to have such a map of the contours of Yobarnie

Re: Yobarnie has been sold to Developer

Glad to see this on here. Buildev is the developer. They have a proposal before Hawkesbury City Council for a retirement village. This is considered to be the "soft start", with a large residential development to follow.

Hawkesbury Council is very keen on development. They approved an outrageous development in PItt Town on prime ag land, but this one takes the biscuit. There is some protest from the locals, but much of this is focussed on traffic (Nth Richmond is a bugger to get to in the afternoons. Nth Richmond already has lots of town houses. Public transport is pretty poor (a bus or two every hour), but the shopping centre has been upgraded since Buildev bought Yobarnie (known locally as Peel's Dairy). Obviously Coles were in the know.

The University of Western Sydney recently weighed in to the debate and suggested heritage listing in the local paper. But the local media is pretty parochial and known not to support anything seen as a green issue.

If you would like to contact someone to add to the noise against this development, the Greens councillor Leigh Williams would be your best bet. If you want to stick with an independent, try Christine Paine or Paul Rasmussen. Council is liberal dominated (5/12), but you could try contacting them (Bart Bassett is the mayor and head lib) - they'll no doubt tell you all about why its a good idea. Its being approached as a done deal.

Darren, I live in the hawkesbury. If you want more info, or a contact, I can dig something up. If you want to come here and make a noise, PM me and we can organise come accommodation.
    Cheers
    Danielle
