John Michael Greer has recently finished a series of nine articles on his website covering the topics of energy, public health, economics and politics.

Each of the series is well written and provides good insight into these topics, covering historical, present and future perspectives. Not everyone will agree with everything he says - I don't myself - but IMO he's really put together an excellent series.

The articles are written largely from a US perspective, but the majority of the content is easily applicable to Australia and elsewhere in the Western world.

    The nine topics covered are:

    Energy predicaments and prospects

    Energy: preparations and possibilities

    Economics: avoiding the Y2K fallacy

    Economics: Hallucinated Wealth

Economics: The Sound of Aunt Edna's Knitting

    Public Health: Slow Motion Disaster

    Politics: imperial sunset

Politics: The Eighty Percent Pay Cut

    Politics: Rebuilding Civil Society

    Hi Jez,

Thanks for posting these links - I found the articles very interesting. I was particularly interested in his comments on health care in a 'deindustrialised' society.

My pleasure Derek, glad you got something out of them.

Dr Paul Roth is an Australian doctor with a blog which is very good if you're interested in future healthcare. One recent article is Peak Oil and Healthcare Relocalisation (Click Here to view) and from there you can access other articles he's written from the menu on the left.
