It is painful to see that good pesticides are bad for us and the environment. Can't scientists think up healthier and cheaper alternatives?
Welcome farmerlus, I see you've read some of Dr Elaine Ingham's work on EM. Elaine is all about promoting soil life and explicitly states that pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides all destroy that life in the soil. Check out her work on the Soil-Food Web sometime and I think you'll change your mind about pesticides in general.
I've learnt from first hand experience that herbicides also act as pesticides after my bee hive got sprayed. Not that I know exactly what was sprayed, but when all the plants around the hive either died or died back, its a good bet that it was a herbicide that was used. I cant wait for the day when they are all off the shelves.
