Had anyone tried to plant chufa? I put some seeds in and see how it goes. It might be a bit fiddly in the kitchen though.
I'm growing it in my aquaponics system. Have not harvested any tubers yet. I got my tubers from https://jlhudsonseeds.net/ not sure if they ship overseas.....
Not everyone likes it apparently https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/objtwr/imported_assets/content/pw/weed/fs007_2002.pdf Pls tell more I have never heard of it
Yes, you have to be careful because it can be invasive apparently. The main use of chufa tubers is apparently in the production of a drink called "horchata" popular in Spain and Mexico https://www.popsynth.com/horchata.htm The tubers can be toasted and eaten as a snack or added to other foods. The main problem I see with it in my own situation is it may not be hardy through our winters (US Zone 8).
Tastes exactly like almond! I love it. Very rich and probably one of the easiest "nuts" you could possibly grow! Can become invasive though, or from seed or by running (like running bamboo) I suppose, so keep it where you know it can't escape.
