    When I was in the RAAF, I used to work with a James Scott (40ish now) who came from Gove (Nhulunbuy). His father was on the trawlers I believe. He used to make comments that they were so poor they couldn't afford to buy meat but had to live off prawns and lobsters....

    It can be a small world. I met my golfing partners mother up near cape york, my mate also met an old school friend who was in the Army on the same trip.

    I can believe that.

    Beef here currently retails for between $16 for mince up to $38 for scotch fillet.


    Fish is a lot cheaper, fresher and even better for you.

    Anecdotally, you can swap a slab of beer for around $30 for a slab or 10-15kg of fish.


    we are 400kms from the nearest cattle property.

    The lobsters you have to dive for [2-3m] of water.. painted crays..
