I have been given several citrus trees, berry bushes and a fig tree. All in pots and a I can't plant them out until after the house is built sometime in Oct I am wondering what to feed them until then. This will be winter going into spring. I can prepare where they will be planted now

Commerical? They may have slow-release inorganic fertiliser in them?

I would think a layer of compost or worm castings would be pretty good if you can get some. My wine-barrel gardens (with vegetables, not fruit trees right now) get a top up of compost, and mulched with chookyard-straw (with a bit of manure in it) and they seem to do pretty well. I don't add any extra fertiliser in particular. Perhaps a water with a seaweed extract could also be helpful?
