    Hi All,
Does anyone know where to buy a banana de-suckering tool.
Closest thing I could find was a trench shovel. Pretty lame.
Not only does it look like you can't get them anymore, but no suppliers has even heard of such a thing.
    Completely stumped.

    Hi Wayne,
I just had to look this up (knowing absolutely nothing about bananas). Does it look like this?

An old spade and angle grinder or a visit to the mens shed should fix it. I use a knife or a shovel but I dont have millions to do

These are OK for smaller sucker, That is what I used before I came across the desuckering tool. But no good at all for the bigger stuff. The difference with the desucker-er is that it is designed to be hammered in. It is basically a huge chisel. The handle is just an iron bar. I will have to get one of these again until I find one. Maybe should go into business making them. Thanks SOP for the link.

With all the fabricators losing mining work, a shortened crowbar with carbon steel blade shouldn't be too far out of the picture (at a decent price)?

I think I'll just get my old one welded back together. It snapped using it for bamboo. The blade is still in the ground on someones property. Didn't bother me too much as I thought I could just go and buy another. Now I've gotta go back and try and remember where it was. This property has literally forests of bamboo that he doesn't know what to do with. (or just not interested) If anyone on thee Sunshine Coast want free huge bamboo, I think the guy is only happy for you to take some, if not...loads.
