Please note that our domain name has changed to forums.internationalpermaculture.com and from my end, it appears the old domain (forums.permaculturenews.org) does not forward. I've added the new domains (including to the PRI Home Page) to my bookmarks to simplify getting here. Let us know when you find links to the old domain and we can update them. Thanks! https://internationalpermaculture.com/2014/12/21/update-change-url-to-internationalpermaculture-com/
are you suggesting that the forum admin manually edit all the old links? What about all the incoming links that will now be broken? I'm gobsmacked they're not using a redirect from the old URLs to the new ones.
someone has now posted saying that a contractor has the domain name and won't allow a redirect. I think in situations like this it's always better to be upfront and clear with your community. Short comments asking people to spread the new URL around without telling the various communities what is actually going on undermine trust, and also imply a complete lack of understanding of how the internet works, the amount of effort already spent on linking that is now broken, and the importance of treating the communities with respect.
Not at all, but I'd fix links that were brought to my attention. I'll mention the links at the top of the forum pages to the admins (something I can't edit myself)
Not using a redirect is a bad enough blunder but I don't recall being notified about the domain change either? I'm with Pebble, completely gobsmacked!
Heh, funny thing about that. Today the "old" domain is working! https://permaculturenews.org I'm very confused ... = /
that is how i got here. i figured something might have changed with the new month so it was worth a check and it worked. : ) they must have freed up the domain or convinced them to set up the forward...
Hi All. Yes things did happen quite suddenly but it is just about all sorted out. We will be moving back to forums.permaculturenews, we just have a couple things to finish up. We will be letting the moderators know before the move happens, and I would like to personally say thank you to the years of dedication that all the moderators, past and present have put in. Geoff
