    Hi everyone,

Has anyone here made their own solar water heater? If so, would anyone be able to share the plans with me?

I lean towards low-tech, and prefer scavengable materials, but am open to any ideas. I'll be doing all my building within the confines of a city apartment, in case that has any bearing.

    :)

    Hi Russell,

Will you be also deploying your water heater on your apartment's balcony or such?

For an apartment, I might opt for a batch-type heater, which would mainly consist of a painted-black tank enclosed in an insulated box with a glass "window" on the south/upwards side (often built on a diagonal to point at the sun).

    Thanks everyone :)

Like Bill guessed, my plan was to use it on my balcony. I'll check out the resources you suggested to me.
