Hello everyone! Is someone here that can give me some informations about Masanobu Fukuoka? I'm reading his book "The one staw revolution" and I find it fascinating. As I find it similar to permaculture I'd be glad if someone could tell me if permaculture was inspired by him (considering he started farming with his system much earlier) and where I can get more informations. Thank you very much!!!
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka Bill Mollison certainly refers to him in books, lectures and permaculture courses. He did some fascinating work that has a lot of application even outside of the systems he describes.
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masanobu_Fukuoka https://fukuokafarmingol.info/ A few links that might help... (maybe you have seen them before) [I love hunting down info on the web - I cant help it!) I particulary like this quote: "If we throw mother nature out the window, she comes back in the door with a pitchfork."
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka Here's a cool article on Fukuoka - and also some photos of him with Mollison: https://www.permaculture.com/drupal/node/140
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka He is amazing. I have read that book a few times. I always end up putting it down after a few pages and going straight out into the garden and doing something. It is incredibly inspiring. I wish he visions of the world became the normal reality.
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka Definitely get a copy of Natural Way of Farming for your local library or to share. It is his best reference translated to English. I understand he has something like 7 books in Japanese. Several topics here have encouraged me to try a Fukuoka style garden in a pocket next spring. I have an area that I sheet mulched with rock powder, horse manure, carboard, and straw and planted with Sunchokes. I think I'll rake back whats left of the mulch in spring and spread mixed vegetable and flower seeds with a little stepping stone path running through. We'll see how bad that horse manure seed bank is
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka I have read Natural Way of Farming as well, excellent read, worth chasing up a copy if you are interested in Masanobu Fukuoka system's
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka Alas, it doesn't seem that many people in Japan followed his teaching. Common sense doesn't seem to proliferate at the same rate that stupidity does (the speed of light). Sue
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka A free download of Fukoka's Natural Way of Farming is Available here: https://www.soilandhealth.org/copyform.a ... ode=010164 Just type in your name and email address at the bottom of the agreement. Be aware that you can only download it ONCE. They've got other good books, too, so look around. Sue

Re: Masanobu Fukuoka Sadly, natural farming innovator Masanobu Fukuoka passed away yesterday, Saturday, August 16, 2008, at his home in Iyo, Ehime Prefecture, Japan of old age. He was 95. Someone with an amazing insight into living in balance, thankfully he shared his wisdom with many of us.
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka I am certainly sorry to hear about his death. Somehow, we always want ones like him to live forever. Sue
Re: Masanobu Fukuoka Goodbye to a great visionary. :salute: Here is a quote from One Straw Revolution: "When it is understood that one loses joy and happiness in the attempt to possess them, the essence of natural farming will be realized. The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings." :color: :evil5:
