I fell in love with a large black pig in Cambodia. I presume that was the actual variety as she was A. Large and B. Black. As a redhead myself those Tamworth pigs sure are pleasing to the eye…. That's one more thing for the wish list….
I would have thought the kunekune would have been tagged as a lard breed. When I went off to learn about (un)dressing pigs, I was surprised at the amount of fat on them. I wound up cutting just about all of it off and rendering it down and using the casings to store it in, in the freezer. Just cut a slice off and popped it in the pan. That last for ages, probably longer than the rest of the meat did. It amazes me that such a large beast produces such little babies.
Didn't see any greys on those Tamworth Pigs lol. Must be the Red Rinse. Thanks for putting up the photos. I enjoyed them
''dogs look up to us, cats look down on us...but pigs treat us as equals''!!... dunno who I am quoting here but I have never forgotten cheers,
We are starting to breed Guinea Hogs, our first two gilts will be picked up in September when momma is through weening them.
