I am trying to find out, whether chooks (1) should be given wattle seeds as food (2) if so, what are the best species for chook acceptable tucker and (3) are green pods best, the dried seeds or sprouted seeds??

Thanks to Scarecrow's blog https://scarecrowsgarden.blogspot.com/, I did find the following research undertaken by permaculture farmer, Ian Simons https://www.worldwidewattle.com/socgroups/asg/newsletters/98.pdf - see pages 7 & 8.

What are other people's thoughts and suggestions on this?

There have been some studies done on just this subject.

"The seeds of acacias (wattles) were considered to be a promising starting point because most of their seeds are high in protein. Poultry choice tests using the acacia seeds of different species were conducted. The tests were extended to cover the seeds and fruits of other perennial species. Those species which the chickens ate or ate avidly are listed."
