i've heard of digging a fridge into the ground but does anyone know of any other methods for refridgeration without power?
Of course there is the Coolgardie safe, which is basically an evaporative cooler, which works best in low humidity situations. Do a search on coolgardie safe and your bound to find something. Elsewhere on this forum there has been discussion of "cool cupboards" I think, a design that makes use of the principle that hot air rises to draw a cool current of air through open shelves to store things that need to be cool.
Re: refridgeration without power There's lots of stuff online about this. What's already been mentioned, plus an african invented clay pot system. You can use a polystyrene chilly bin too. These all work on the principle of water evaporating producing a cooling effect.
Re: refridgeration without power Google "Intermittent Solar Ammonia Absorption Cycle Refrigerator". I've seen plans on the net somewhere.
Re: refridgeration without power I would point out that Emily had little control over that particular article https://www.theenvironmentsite.org/forum ... ridge.html link dump A Refrigerator that Runs Without Electricity Mohammed Bah Abba Inventions of the Year Coolgardie Safe 1890's Ab Anbar Bâdgir Absorption refrigerator Solar Thermal Cooling Trigeneration three areas of thermodynamics can be applied evaporative cooling (generally water wasteful) absorption cooling (requires heat source) also see thermal swing adsorption, pressure swing adsorption, absorption vs adsorption. Joule–Thomson effect thermal mass cooling (root cellars, or phase change materials storage)
Re: refridgeration without power It is high level of technology in discovering a environment friendly refrigerator or what we call fridge... ____________________ Ge mwf
