Re: Permaculture Expo Qld April 18/19 Well the Expo has made front page news in todays "Noosa News" which is excellent publicity. Congratulations to the small team of organisers for putting this together: The Permaculture Noosa group with a membership of around 200 has been meeting every third Thursday of the month for 17 years, in recent years at Cooroy Memorial Hall, Maple Street, Cooroy. The meetings attract large audiences to hear world-class speakers and enjoy the power of community demonstrated by our People Care, Earth Care, Fair Share philosophy. Permaculture Noosa’s founder Geoff Lawton is at the centre of this burgeoning movement and is director of the world’s first Permaculture Research Institute with fellow director, Permaculture co-founder Bill Mollison. The Permaculture Noosa membership is reaching out to the Sunshine Coast community with their Future Ready Sustainable Future Expo at Lake Kawana Community Centre, Sportsmans Road, Bokarina on Friday and Saturday April 18-19. TODAY: Think Global Act Local is the theme of the forum opening the event, from 7.30pm (doors open 6.30pm) in Hall 1 of the centre when “Why Permaculture for a Sustainable Future” is the question put to the panel of sustainable living specialists. Two keynote speakers will be followed by a forum chaired by John Stokes of Coast FM ABC radio. Speakers will be Geoff Lawton, director of the Permaculture Research Institute and a founder of Permaculture Noosa; and Roberto Perez, a Cuban permaculturist. They will be joined by Rockcote’s Bob Cameron, and Frances Michaels, creator of successful mail order/online organic seed business Green Harvest. Admission $10 and $8 concession. more info: https://www.thedaily.com.au/news/2008/apr/18/all-about-permaculture/
