Insect control in vines

    I was scratching around looking at beneficial insect plantings and found this .

    Mattew Bailey has won 2015 Horticulture farmer of the year

    His approach has reduced his chemical use by 75% while not a full Permy system certainly a step in the right direction and hopefully this award will encourage others to look and learn .

    i see that here too on a much smaller scale... the more diverse areas i have the less problems i have with insect damage. it's not 100% control, the question becomes one of tolerance for imperfections in some fruits/veggies and being able to work around what happens. planting diverse crops is the other method for making sure there is some harvest available even if some insects get out of balance with predator species there's a good chance they don't eat everything.
