I have 5 acre's about 50 km south of Perth.
Im interested in the principals of Permaculture, but i dont have the faintest idea where to start.
Can anyone suggest a good basic book or web site that i might be able to get some idea's about the planning out of my block of dirt.
I guess what i dont want to happen is that in 5 years time i start regretting certain placement of trees, chook runs, sheds etc
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Books I've found useful are:

Introduction to Permaculture by Bill Mollison
    $30.00 second hand

Permaculture: A Designers Manual - by Bill Mollison
The "cornerstone" book of permaculture, well worth the money at $75 second hand or about $149 new

The Permaculture Home Garden - by Linda Woodrow
    about $25 second hand

Natural Farming - by Pat Coleby
Hard to find this pre-loved, and retails for about $39.95 new

There are probably another 15 or so titles but I have found that these 4 books offer the most information and give the best value for money.

    Good luck!

    dory :)

    :p Hi Scott,
I'm a newbie too....have Jenny Allen's book Paradise Garden...love it but most of the ohers and some of the ones mentioned here I have loaned from the library.....even a small local one will be able to get books from Perth for you....usually small charge $1 or so.
    Good readings
    Cathy

The Jenny Allen book (loaned to me by a friend) was the one that started the permie "dream"for me!!

Very easy to read, heaps of full colour photos, and an extensive resource list in the back.
