    Hello all,

We raise guinea pigs for meat. We also raise chickens, ducks, quail, rabbits and goats.

We were thinking of getting rid of our guinea pig stock (by just putting them all in the freezer) but we recently found people of a certain ethnic group who are willing to buy them from us on a regular basis. We were only going to get rid of them because since we already had rabbit and quail, we figured why bother.

GPs are super easy to keep. They all live outside in a 7x14 dog kennel. We feed them weeds and food scraps and lots of free produce that we get from a local produce stand. We provide lots of hay and they are happy and carefree. They are always wheeking at us when we are out in the yard.

When we walk into their enclosure, they aren't afraid (mainly because they are near-signted). :) Our male rabbits live with the guinea pigs also.

We don't mow our yard at all. Our entire front yard is grow beds and when weeds grow or grass grows around them or in the beds, I just pull them and give it to my animals. Easy.

We use to eat the meat alot but now we mainly use the GPs for broth and for our dog's raw meat diet. The GP broth is SOOOOOO good.

We started with the GPs because we were looking at small animals for meat and heard about GPs and tried it.
