Hi Jeff, i love your site and all that it can teach me. Could you please tell me where i can purchase the Olla - clay pots for the garden irrigation. I love the idea of them and how they work, i think its brilliant. I live in Western Australia out in the bush . Is there anywhere in Oz i can buy them or do i have to buy them from overseas ?
    Regards Narbil:)

Terracotta pots glued together would work because they are porous

Wicking beds would solve your problem too

Hi Narbil, you can make your own with terracotta pots:

    View attachment 2960

basically, you need 100% silicone sealant, two pots, another piece of pot to glue to the bottom hole of one pot.

close the end of one pot, glue both pots together at the rims and leave for 24 hours to set, ensure one pot still has an open drain hole then bury it deep enough so you can still fill the pot. cover the top with a small teracotta saucer to prevent evaporation.

theres quite a few videos on youtube too

    hope that helped

I also thought that inverted 2 litre bottles stuck into the hole would act like an office water cooler and give a quick indication from a distance when the reservoir is empty.
