    Hello

i want to try geoff lawtons "chicken tractor on steriods" with the mesh electric fencing. My partner is dead against it and said that it will encourage foxes onto our property. We do get the odd one or two.

anyone had experience with mesh electric fencing?

    thanks

    hi there,

Electric fencing is awesome. Apparently them lil red dogs hate it more than the chooks do.

Seems like a winner to me, but always house your chooks securely at night.

    PS... leave the fence on

    Cheers...

I would like to know which is the best type to use as there is the fencing that is supposed to be self supporting or the fencing that has a small anchor on the bottom of the stakes that needs to go into the ground. Would like to know which is the best to purchase.

I haven't come across self-supporting nets so can't comment. In my experience they all have single or double metal tips that go into the ground. Additionally one can tie and anchor corners with tent pegs and rope. I prefer double tips as our ground can be quite soft.
My experience with e-nets is very good. It's more to keep predators out than chickens in. Make sure you get the actual poultry netting with small diameter mesh at the bottom, rather than sheep nets.
Is your husband against the netting or the compost feeding method?
