Kimbo. A good tesla coil would get you to 32kv, with stacked (series/parallel) microwave oven transformers to get enough amps on the primary side.
Pennyroyal essential oil wouldn't be quick or sweet, it would be prolonged and painful (liver and kidney failure). Not sure about foxglove, how quick that would be. I'd probably choose a heart attack over liver failure though (and tea is so much more permaculture than an essential oil ;-) ).
permasculpture - datura!!!! the plan is to shitface the guy to death? the problem with datura is that once dosed the chap could take off and start barking at the neighbours. poisons, the design has gotten down to a choice of poisons - the merits of a heart failure against say a strychnine or arsenic guts. i just can't see the finesse. might as well use miximatosis - that causes blindness and subsequent swelling of the genitals, and more, and more.....till they explode....bad enough for rabbits. probably the deceased pending does not want to go that way. with renewable energy we could freeze someone to death, but then there is that double handling required for disposal in accordance with the brief - on that point, freezing fails to provide sufficient cue for the music, bang flash and butterfly release. with the local beaches teaming with sharks at the present,,,might as well just design for a day at the beach with a nice back float out 100m or so.....the client did not want that am i dead yet feeling, and i'm thinking of the opening scenes of jaws....so scrap the beach idea.
kimbo are you messing with the design process? myxamotosis ain't exacly permaculture. At least with foxglove I can have a local death AND not harm the environment in the process. It's unclear whether the client minds about pain and length of dying. Can you please clarify?
mixy ain't permaculture - fair call biological control notwithstanding, it is a bit sus - kind of like taking the client out with a bird flu strain, or a sooped up plague which we just happen to have - it reeks of corporate involvement! so i concede, not up to spec. are we at the point of inviting someone who has not provided a design for this exercise to choose the 'winner'?.....the most innovative design. * a thought ( immediately post cone, so it is pure when euthanasia is legal, ubiquitous and for sale, it occurs that a Permaculture Product would have a market. the design brief that preceded this exercise, was only radical in the context of suicide / euthanasia,,,,the nuances of the proposed act put it squarely in the Permaculture basket. remembering that Permaculture 'can be' about systems design - systems for Permaculture Ends are most valid musings. i keep thinking of local flavours and slow food...and feel that Death should be that way. maybe so slow that you don't actually notice it till its done.... i think it should have a local look - not some homogenisation - but a fitting personalisation based on where the person lived/died. where i live; poisoning with any one of the abundant local species that produce 1080 (sodiumfluorofckyouuprealbadacetate), the natural toxin that all the local wildlife are immune to, seems so right. What an amazing poison. literally proof of gods!,,,it only hits outsiders....i would chose this for myself - i would blend and drink a bunch of local poison, then masturbate my way to a heart attack...... the stuff hits on excitement.....i just wont work if you are relaxed. then again, i did hope to end, relaxed. cheers, k
Kimbo, you want to masturbate your way to a heart attack? It's your last day on the planet, you can't find someone to help you with that? What if you failed masturbating because of arm cramps from the heart attack and live?! Poison is SO overrated. Why not just snap the neck quickly, efficiently, and no need to use anything else other then someones pair of hands. Then we get to compost the person!
And when the deed is done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=9ZPq8KRBFKM Then, Pakabuddy, you can compost or plant a couple of trees, head and tail.
Formaldehyde started to be used in the US Civil War to preserve bodies for their then, long trip home. it is still being used, despite the invention of refrigeration and the fact that it is a known carcinogen that may leak into groundwater. There is a pertinent thread here called 'Sky Burials" https://forums.permaculture.org.au/...et-and-India-Could-Australia&highlight=burial
No plant would be easy or quick. pharmaceuticals are needed; see the banned (in Oz) book The Peaceful Pill by Philip Nitschke, available only from Amazon (for Australians) Interesting that half the gun deaths in the USA (highest in developed world) are said to be suicides. I wonder what we are doing wrong given that, and the success of anti depressant pharmaceutics ( U.S. sales of antidepressants totaled $11.9 billion in 2007) Psychopharmacological Treatment to Reduce Suicide Risk https://www.psychiatrictimes.com/di...27-85E1-2AB0400BC4EF&rememberme=1&ts=19042012
The very best thing I have learned for the disposal of a body quickly.. and in a "Green" manner is to plant an apple tree over the corpse. The apple will suck the nutrients it needs from the very marrow of life itself!
And by far the best thread we have had about the 'final journey' to date is this one courtesy of Kimbo.
