Hello, I live in Mekong delta area in tropical Southern Vietnam with my Vietnamese fiancé. After the wedding in March we are going to finalise purchase of a little pease of land in a small village where her extended family lives. I am going to build a small hut using natural techniques: adobe bricks, cob, that I just learned on a natural building course in Northern Thailand. I have moved from Finland in 2002, first to Singapore, then Australia. I lived there until 2014, mostly in the Tropical North Queensland: Townsville, Woodstock, Cairns. After a few nomadic years around the world, I am settling in Vietnam now. I have been reading about permaculture a lot and did some experiments on my backyard in Australia. Hope you guys can see the photo below. My land is the narrow strip between two ditches of water, between a neighbour's fruit orchard and the rice field of my partner's family. Only about 5 x 50 metres area. It needs to be elevated in order to protect the site from floodwaters. A small pond needs to be dug too before I can start building my tiny vegan paradise. There is a good article on the conditions and agriculture in Mekong delta area on this site: https://www.permaculture.co.uk/articles/discovering-food-forest-vietnam
Thank you! I think that is what I can start with. In the future it is possible to buy more land and convert some of the rice paddock into garden.
