Surprised they don't want us to apply some chemical to chickens to protect them from the sun.

If you talk with gardeners in your area and do a little networking, I'm sure you can find a place somewhere close by that holds these classes. Most of ours for the New Orleans area are held at Parkway Partners who do a 2nd Saturday class, but it's not exclusively done by the same organizations each 2nd saturday. The New Orleans Extension Agent does a few classes and some are done by Master Gardeners. Some are also done by people in the trade also(we had an edible landscaping lecture one time, with a permaculture bent). So this stuff is out there, but there's no major advertising campaign or spiffing poster.
I found an article in an old box from a newspaper in the 50's talking about how great compost is. Crazy talk.

Sorry, guess it could have been confusing...about raising backyard chickens, organic gardening, insectaries, urban beekeeping, etc. I thought the sunscreening chickens thing was funny since it was more like basting a chicken to cook it.
