    Default ABOUT Ixchel Ha

    Hi
I and my partner; practice permaculture and off grid homesteading in Belize, Central America. We conserve 25 acres of natural rain forest in southern Belize in a small village a few miles from Punta Gorda; the capital of the Toledo District. Our food forest and homestead are being established over 5 acres.

We have numerous projects in progress and planned; for example: [LIST][*]integrated duck, rice and fish farming[*]aquaponics[*]tree nursery[*]earth building technologies[*]landscaping[*]natural technologies[*]bees[*]biochar[*]education and training[*]community engagement

We are interested in connecting with permaculturists, trainers and learners to share experiences, develop opportuninties for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

    Welcome Ixchelha.

What Pebble said. Christopher is a long-time Permaculturist and a charter member of this forum. He is very near to you (Belize isn't that big) and for contact, his website is http://www.mmrfbz.org/Welcome_to_May...arch_Farm.html
Permaculture is a gestalt ... a study of the whole. Not just how to produce more and better food, but how that food production affects and is affected by the surrounding environment.

    Hi
Thanks for the welcome and info.
Belize is indeed quite small so unsurprisingly I know Christopher and his reputation as a knowledgeable permaculturist.
I attended a PDC course at MMFR in 2011.
Albert Bates gave us some valuable pointers on biochar which we hope to integrate into our work in soil improvement.
My partner Jonathan and look forwards in the future to developing permaculture training opportunities at out farm; with a particular interest in standards, guidelines and issues of people care; at training locations.

I hope to be an active listener and occasional contributor on the forums; farm work schedules permitting!
