Thread: horse manure in water

    Default horse manure in water

Got nearly 200 l of horse manure juice (Guinness coloured). It's really old (we're talking years) and I'm feeding my garden on it (diluted 1 : 7 with water).

How many times a week you guys reckon I can feed the garden with this mix (don't feel like having 2 wheely-bin with this stuff around for too long)

    Cheers, J_Cornelissen

Would have thought small occasional doses would be better than bigger regular ones, unless you are trying to grow lots of fast growing greens quickly.
Put some through your compost heap too.
Why the haste to get rid of it?

limited space, with all my other projects going on, it's enough of a mess at it is

if it were worm juice, how often would you use that?

Every 10-14 days is what some biofertilisers are recommended for. But if you want to use it up,spread it around everywhere, grass, un productive gardens, neighbours lawns.
Can't hurt. You just dont want to be force feeding your productive plants if the soil is right, otherwise you will end up with excess soluble sugars and free aminoacids which sends out signals to pest and disease. This is the problem with the drip-fed chemical fertiliser regime.

I use worm juice weekly on my heavy feeders (citrus, paw paw, corn, brasicas) and fortnightly on everything else.

If you have it in a sealed container once all the microbes in would have died once they oxygen was all used up. Put about 2 oer 3 table spoons of mollasses in it with a air stone connected to an aquarium pump. After about 24 hour the micro organisms would flourishing, then feed it out to your gardens.
